Easy way to make Bhindi (okra) indian style

Bhindi has been and still is one of my favourite veggie to have so since I have started cooking I make it a point to make bhindi atleast once a week. Another reason for making bhindi regularly is because it is a green vegetable and is good for health.

The first thing to take care while making bhindi is that the bhindi you have, is good to cook and not over ripe because that won't taste good at all. The next step is to properly wash it and let it dry overnight. Then I cut them into small peices.

Once bhindi is cut next come your Onion. We generally use red onions and cute them in medium size pieces.

With this the prep is over and cooking starts. I like to cook it in mustard oil as they get a better flavour. So heat about 2-3 spoons ( it is according to the quantity of your vegetable) of mustard oil in a pan.

When the oil is heated it will spread in the pan and its consistency will become thin. Then I added 1 tablespoon of cumin seeds and as soon as they started to crackle I added my chopped onions.

Saute the Onions till they are light golden in color and then add your Bhindi/ okra/ lady finger.

The flame was on medium but after adding Bhindi I turned it to law and covered the pan. It generally takes about 15 min to cook. But the time depends on the quantity that your are cooking with.

I keep checking on them by lifting the lid every 4-5 min (amature cook ..What to do) but when I feel they are almost done I add some salt to taste. When the Bhindi is perfectly cooked I add some garam masala and dhaniya powder to enhance the taste.

Voila !! Bhindi Easy Peasy..

DIY: Flower vase

I love fresh flowers and after moving to Bangalore and trying to set up a home here this part of décor somehow got missed.  So when I realized that I didn't have any fresh plants or flowers in my home i started searching for a beautiful yet not so expensive vase. The search was quite futile as mostly i didn't like the vases or they were way to expensive for me to invest in at the moment.

So i got my brains working and used an empty Jam jar as a vase. All i had to do was get the jar cleaned and remove the paper label on the jar. Removing the label is an easy task. Just dip the jar in warm water for 5 minutes and then tear off the paper. Voilà you have a clean and fresh looking jar.

So this is how i got myself a beautiful bunch of flowers in a cute jar which actually cost me nothing.

XOXO

Hurt equals Hurt

I don't know if it happens with other people or not but sometimes when I am hurt or disappointed by something, someone dear to me said or did or may be didn't do I, though not intentionally or purposely pull myself away, be straightforward (rude), impolite......The explanation I give myself for such behaviour is that these people hurt/ disappointed me on purpose, i let myself believe that they are the ones who know what i want, how i want it and if when that does not happen its that person's fault, so they deserve this behaviour.

Now I am no monster and I know this for the reason that soon after such an occurrence I regret it, i regret the way in which i dealt with the whole situation but then again instead of apologising, I choose to go back to my same old logic " THEY HURT ME TOO"

Sitting ideal today, watching House of Cards, It just dawned on me how i need to mend my ways and change my attitude.  Motivation and Realisation I feel are the key to bringing about any change, especially in oneself. Knowing that love, care, passion, gratitude are much better feeling to experience, i'll pus my mind in that direction, I'll thank God for giving me such people in my life who care about me, make me laugh, kiss my forehead and most importantly who never want to see a tear in my eyes.

I clicked this picture of the magnificent moon because looking at it just brings me peace.
